Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 10, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Moon Shard Ltd, trading as VOID ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the VOID mobile application (the "App"). VOID is a photo management application designed to help you declutter your iPhone's photo library.
Our core principle is simple: your photos never leave your device. VOID is built from the ground up with a local-first architecture. We do not collect, transmit, store, or process your personal data or photos on any server.
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information. VOID does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personal identifiers. There is no sign-up process.
2.1 Photo Library Access
VOID requests access to your device's photo library via Apple's PhotoKit framework. This access is used solely to:
- Display your photos within the App so you can review them
- Execute photo deletions that you explicitly authorize through iOS's native confirmation dialog
- Calculate file sizes and metadata (e.g., creation date, media type) to organize cleaning modes
Your photos are never uploaded, transmitted, analyzed by artificial intelligence, or processed on any external server. All photo processing occurs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device PhotoKit APIs.
2.2 Local App Data
VOID stores a small amount of operational data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:
- Deletion queue: A list of photo identifiers you have swiped to "void" but not yet permanently deleted. This queue is stored in the App's sandboxed container and is not accessible to other apps or transmitted externally.
- Statistics: Aggregate counts such as total photos voided and total storage reclaimed. These numbers are stored locally and are not transmitted.
- Preferences: Your settings (haptic intensity, video inclusion preference) are stored locally via iOS UserDefaults.
2.3 Subscription Information
If you subscribe to VOID+, your subscription is processed by Apple through the App Store. VOID uses RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management platform, to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat receives transaction data from Apple's StoreKit framework — VOID does not independently collect or store your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details.
2.4 What We Do NOT Collect
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No crash reporting SDKs
- No advertising frameworks or ad identifiers
- No device fingerprinting
- No location data
- No contacts, calendar, or other personal data
- No cookies or web tracking
3. How We Use Information
The limited local data described above is used exclusively to:
- Display your photos for review within the swipe interface
- Maintain your deletion queue between sessions
- Execute permanent photo deletions upon your explicit confirmation
- Display your cleaning statistics (photos voided, storage reclaimed)
- Verify your VOID+ subscription status to unlock premium features
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, machine learning training, or any purpose beyond the core functionality of the App.
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 RevenueCat
VOID uses RevenueCat (Privacy Policy) to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat processes subscription transactions through Apple's StoreKit 2 framework. RevenueCat may receive:
- An anonymous app user ID (generated randomly, not linked to your identity)
- Subscription purchase and renewal events from Apple
- Device locale and app version for subscription validation
RevenueCat does not receive access to your photos, contacts, or any personal data from VOID.
4.2 Apple StoreKit 2
All in-app purchases are processed by Apple in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy. VOID does not have access to your Apple ID credentials or payment instruments.
4.3 No Other Third Parties
VOID does not integrate any other third-party SDKs, services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, social media SDKs, or data processors.
5. Data Storage and Security
All data is stored locally on your device within the App's iOS sandboxed container, protected by the operating system's built-in security measures including:
- App sandboxing (no other app can access VOID's data)
- Device-level encryption (iOS Data Protection)
- No network transmission of personal data
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- Deleting the App removes all locally stored data, including your deletion queue, statistics, and preferences.
- There is no server-side data to request deletion of, because no data is ever transmitted to our servers.
- Photo deletions performed through VOID use iOS's native PHPhotoLibrary deletion API. Once you confirm the iOS system dialog, photos are permanently removed from your device and iCloud Photos (if enabled). This action is irreversible.
7. Children's Privacy
VOID does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA) or under the age of 16 (as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR).
The App is rated 4+ on the App Store and does not contain content inappropriate for children. However, since the App collects no personal information whatsoever, there is no children's data to protect — no data is collected from any user regardless of age.
If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, please contact us. Note that because the App operates entirely on-device with no data collection, there is no information we could provide, correct, or delete.
8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. We want to be transparent:
- We do not sell personal information. We have never sold personal information and have no plans to do so.
- We do not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not collect personal information as defined by the CCPA. Because no personal information is collected, there is no data to access, delete, correct, or port.
If you are a California resident and wish to exercise any rights under the CCPA/CPRA, you may contact us at hello@moonshard.co. We will respond within 45 days.
9. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland:
- Legal basis: To the extent any processing occurs (subscription verification via RevenueCat), the legal basis is the performance of a contract — specifically, providing the VOID+ service you requested (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- No data transfers: Your photos and personal data never leave your device. No cross-border data transfers occur for personal data because no personal data is collected or transmitted.
- Data subject rights: You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing of your personal data. Since VOID holds no personal data on any server, these rights are effectively pre-satisfied — there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete.
- Data Protection Officer: Given the minimal data processing, we have not appointed a formal DPO. For inquiries, contact hello@moonshard.co.
10. Photo Library Permission
VOID requires access to your photo library to function. You can manage this permission at any time:
- Full Access: VOID can see and manage all photos in your library.
- Limited Access: You choose specific photos VOID can see. VOID fully supports iOS Limited Photo Library access.
- No Access: VOID cannot function without photo library access. You can revoke permission at any time in iOS Settings → VOID → Photos.
Revoking photo library access does not delete any local app data (statistics, preferences). To fully remove all app data, delete the App from your device.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App Store update notes.
Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
